Maarten Delbeke holds the Chair of the History and Theory of Architecture at the Department of Architecture at ETH Zurich. He researches and teaches the history and theory of early modern art and architecture in Europe. Research interests include baroque and rococo art and architecture, print culture, origin myths in architecture, and the reception history of early modern art and architecture. He is the author of The art of religion. Sforza Pallavicino and art theory in Bernini’s Rome (2012 / 2016), amongst many others, the editor of Sforza Pallavicino. A Jesuit life in Baroque Rome (2022) and co-editor with Pier Paolo Tamburelli of Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach: Project of a Historical Architecture (2023). Active as an architecture critic, he was also the founding editor-in-chief of Architectural Histories, the online journal of the EAHN.
